When finishing to fire-place hearths, stone walls and other irregular shaped obstacles with a hard surface floor, the best way to achieve a clean good-looking finish is to under-cut or remove a shallow, narrow section of material from the bottom.

This is the left side and round corner of the concrete fireplace hearth. A flexible siliconized painter's caulk is used to fill any small gaps and still allows the floating laminate floor the freedom of movement that it requires to perform as designed.
