| This acrylic skins carpet is home
woven through a jute carrier fabric. Measuring approximately 14' X 24', it
took the weaver/owner an unbelievable eleven years to construct! After it
was finished the owner sent it out to a rug company and had a latex sizing
applied to the back for dimensional stability. It was used as an area rug
for a number of years until the owner had it installed wall to wall in her
vacation home in the Arizona mountains.
When the owner recently moved to a new permanent home in North Phoenix her wish was to decorate around her masterpiece in the 13' X 21' living room/dining room area. The problem was that during the previous installation the carpet was cut and fit around a couple of air vents and a floor electrical outlet. Also in the previous installation, to carpet around an obstruction, a corner was cut out of the rug measuring approximately 4' X 6'. In order to make this carpet fit in the new space, left over scrap needed to be hand sewn recreating this one of a kind creation. What made this more challenging for the homeowner was that she attempted to initially hire two contractors before contacting floormagic. The first carpet contractor never showed up for the initial consultation meeting with the customer. The second contractor took a cash deposit and was never heard from again. The third time is the charm. Enter floormagic to solve the problem and get the job done! The following is a pictorial of how this masterpiece was recreated. |
