Flooring Inspection...
For the most part you'd only need an inspection if you were experiencing some type of problem with your flooring. Maybe you or someone you know has had wrinkled carpet, a buckling wood or laminate floor, cracked tile and grout, or the seams on your new sheet vinyl are curling. These, among many other problems are often symptoms of  installer negligence. Caught early enough, many of these problems can be corrected. You would need someone to fix these problems, because you already know you have problems. I can certainly make those repairs or corrections for you. Many times repairs can be costly. They rarely look as good as if the floor was installed properly or the material was first quality from the get go. Usually you wind up giving up the fight and settling for a less than first quality floor to be rid of what often becomes a time consuming parasite. Where a flooring inspection and written report comes in handy is when the flooring problems are not your fault!  A professionally written report by a respected industry expert, outlining the problems and why they exist,  will give you leverage when seeking compensation from whoever's fault it is. Most importantly you will have written documentation if you need to use legal recourse.

The Arizona Registrar of Contractors requires that all workmanship by licensed contractors be guaranteed  for a minimum of two years from the date of installation. The problem is- major tile failure occurs on average of five years after installation. Latent defects in carpet installation usually appear after two or three cleanings. Moisture starts to damage unsealed sheet vinyl seams and edges very close to the two year guarantee period.  By the time you actually put a claim into the dealer they're counter claiming that it's too late. This is when your headaches get worse.

An inspection will often show that industry accepted installation guidelines were not followed and that workmanship didn't just become faulty. It has always been faulty and just now became apparent. This will give you enough leverage to make a valid claim for repair to your satisfaction, or replacement.

You can also hire an inspector to avoid problems before they happen. I can be present on site during installation to make sure that proper preparation and installation procedures are followed.  I can inspect your project before installation to apprise you of any pit falls that you may face and any special floor preparation issues that should be addressed. The most important day in the life of your floor is the day it is installed. Hiring a knowledgeable industry expert to oversee the floor that you will most likely spend the next decade of your life with would be a wise decision.
